Majithia dares AAP convener to attend day-to-day hearing.

Amritsar, November 19

A local court today framed charges against Delhi Chief Minister and state AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal and his two aides in a defamation case filed by Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia.

The court served a chargesheet on Kejriwal and his party colleagues Ashish Khetan and Sanjay Singh. The AAP leaders had allegedly accused Majithia of patronising the drug trade in Punjab.

While Majithia appeared in the court, AAP was represented by its lawyers. During the hearing on October 15, Kejriwal had obtained exemption from personal appearance. The next date of hearing has been fixed as January 4.
Majithia said the charges were framed under Sections 500, 501 (defamation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC.   “The court accepted my contention that Kejriwal, Khetan and Sanjay conspired against me and maligned my image though malicious propaganda during the Muktsar rally, the Amritsar ‘nukkad’ meetings and a press conference in Chandigarh. The court then told the trio to clarify their stance on the basis of evidence, which they failed to do,” he said.  Majithia said he would ensure that the case reached its logical conclusion by putting Kejriwal behind bars.  “I dare him to come for the day-to-day hearing,” he added.  AAP’s Majha zone spokesperson Gurbhej Singh said the party would respond to the charges on the next date of hearing.  Majithia had filed a defamation case against Sanjay in a Ludhiana court on January 12, 2015. The AAP leader got bail in the case.
