Ferozepur: The Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted a smuggling bid and recovered 15kg of heroin near Mian Wala border outpost (BOP) in Ferozepur sector on Tuesday.
BSF deputy inspector general (Ferozepur) R K Thapa said troops of their 191 Battalion posted at Mian Wala BOP near India-Pakistan border noticed some movement in the wee hours of Tuesday. They observed that Pakistani smugglers were tried to pass the heroin consignment through a pipe into India territory.
He said after being challenged by the BSF troops, the smugglers fled from the spot towards Pakistan leaving the heroin. During search operation, 15 packets of heroin 1kg each were found near the international border. The recovered contraband was valued at Rs 75 crore in international market, said BSF officials.
