Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal has one again shown the true color of the Shiromani Akali Dal and its political strategy in Punjab after he was pictured with a number of members belonging to the extremist Hindu organization, Shiv Sena. Images showing Nishant Sharma among the group of people sparked fresh controversy and debate across social media. With the Punjab elections coming in 2017, all parties will be attempting to forge alliances with whomever can bring votes come election day. With the Akali Dal relations with BJP being fragile, and the Aam Aadmi Part influence in Punjab growing, the Akali Dal will be seeking out votes from every possible outlet.
